Dianthus caryophyllus L.

Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimen perennial, H cultivated, rarely escaped in ruderal vegetation, apparently not known in the wild. Probably descending from D. arrostii from Sardegne and Sicily.       The most common cultivated pink species in Europe and the ancestor of the carnations from the flower shops.
